Many people have New Year’s resolutions to lose weight! For some, this is their resolution year after year, but they cannot lose weight and keep it off. Why is that, and what can be done to successfully reach and obtain this goal?
First off all, remember that 90 percent of all diets fail. So…..
#1 STOP DIETING
When you feel restricted, your body will eventually fight back. Dieting causes a yo-yo effect. You lose, then you gain, you lose, then you gain.
So, you ask, where do I start?
#2 ACCEPT WHO YOU ARE
Set reasonable expectations and don’t imagine yourself looking like someone you will never look like. Accept who you are and learn to love and improve on that. Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses.
But how do I lose weight if I don’t diet?
#3 NO CRASH DIET
Don’t stop every bad habit all at once and don’t eat whatever you want. Cut out bad habits slowly and be patient with your weight-loss journey. Try to eat small meals every three hours and make sure to pay attention to your food. What I mean by this is don’t eat while doing something else because you will eat too fast or too much. Sit down for a few minutes eat and then be on your way. If you have bad eating habits such as sweets, fried, or high-fat foods, cut them out by finding healthy recipes for likable foods.
OK, so you can handle this but hate to work out?
#4 HAPPY WORKOUT
Don’t do a workout program you hate! Find something you enjoy and do it as much as possible. Don’t worry if it is not hard enough or you are not going to get the fastest results with it. If you do not like what you are doing you eventually WILL QUIT! Something is better than nothing. First, develop the habit of working out and then increase the time and intensity. Don’t be afraid to try something different and be open-minded because you never know what can become your passion. If someone told me years ago I would be an IFBB PRO doing crazy cardio and weight training, I would look at them like they had four heads LOL.
The key is to relax, have fun, be patient, and do what you know is right. If you fall off your plan, don’t beat yourself up because trust me— you are not alone. Losing weight is hard and even harder if you are bored or hate what you are doing to achieve your goals.
