High-Powered Superfood Protein Shake - A meal full of flavor, fiber & nutrition
I love making shakes. I love experimenting with different ingredients to create something that tastes awesome and provides solid nutrition. For me, shakes are a great meal replacement. Sometimes, I don’t feel like whipping up eggs or firing up the grill to cook a burger or chicken. Shakes are also great on a hot summer day.

One of my favorite creations of late is a high protein, high fiber superfood shake. I’ve been tweaking the recipe with various ingredients, and I finally found the winning combination. I know you will enjoy this one.

I typically use this shake in the late morning on the days that I don’t train. I practice intermittent fasting a few days each week, and on those days, I will break my fast with a higher protein and lower carb meal. This shake fits in perfectly.

Callie’s High-Powered Superfood Protein Shake

1 cup of unsweetened coconut milk
1 splash of unsweetened chocolate almond milk (optional, I do this just for flavor)
1 – 1.5 scoops of chocolate whey protein powder
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1/2 tablespoon cacao powder
1 tablespoon coconut oil (tip: melt this down for 45 seconds in the microwave so you don’t get chunks in your shake)
1 spoonful of avocado
1 handful of kale
3 ice cubes

Blend & enjoy.

Nutrition Facts
I don’t typically count calories with a shake like this. I simply use it as a meal replacement, and I focus on the nutrient density of this combination:

This shake will give you around 30-35 grams of protein, depending on your protein powder. You will also get around 12 grams of fiber from the chia seeds, cacao powder and avocado.

The coconut oil and avocado bring a great dose of healthy fats. These fats in combination with the high fiber content will keep you feeling full and satisfied for several hours.

The avocado also adds a creamy texture to the shake, and I have found that coconut oil is a better-suited fat option than almond butter. It blends up nicely and is a great combination with the chocolate protein powder.

Chia seeds are high in fiber, Omega 3 fatty acids, iron and calcium. Cacao powder is high in antioxidants, fiber and magnesium. Kale is often referred to as the “queen of the greens,” as it is packed full of antioxidants and other key vitamins and minerals.

Give this shake a try as your next meal replacement, and let me know what you think by leaving a comment below.
