I remember looking into the fitness magazines and being in awe of all of the beautiful bikini and figure competitors. I wanted to train to look like them and be able to compete. The only issue was, I had no idea how or where to begin. I procrastinated on this goal for a bit because I did not know where to go for information on coaches, competing, the type of training it took, what each division required, etc. After talking to a few people, I linked up with my coach and that is when I began my journey.
Last weekend, I had the pleasure to attend and speak at an NPC Seminar in Texas along with a few other well-known pro competitors and IFBB Head Judge, Lee Thompson. The NPC seminar helps inform people who are interested in competing about the NPC and IFBB. Topics at the free seminar include what the judges are looking for, training, the lifestyle, specifics on bikini and figure, along with other informative topics. If I had attended one of these at the time that I was looking for information, I am sure my competitive career would have begun much earlier. This is a great event to attend to obtain very specific information about the sport and to have all of your questions answered. I want to thank everyone who attended this seminar in Texas, it was so nice to meet everyone.
If you missed this opportunity, it’s OK. There is another NPC Seminar coming up this month. On Saturday, August 25, there will be one in Boston, Massachusetts. Steve Weinberger, who is an IFBB head judge and the NPC district chairman of NY and New England, will be there to speak to you all. Shannon Dey, founder of Team Bombshell, along with Sean Andros, senior editor of Muscular Development magazine, will also be in attendance. If you are interested in competing or even if you already compete or just love the sport, we would love for you to attend. It’s a load of great information and you can meet people with the same goals as you.
As I mentioned before, I wish this was available at the beginning of my competitive career because I would have received all of the information that I needed to get on the right path. Don’t miss out. I can’t wait to see you all in Boston!
