When I was a teenager, I used to treat my hair like garbage. Now that I’m.. well, not a teenager, I wish I could slap some sense into my younger self. This madness started from age 13 and lasted until I was about 21. That’s a seriously long time to do some damage to your hair!
Rather than buying expensive hair products to keep your hair healthy and shiny, you can have yourself a little “DIY day” and create your own mask! Most oils only coat your hair but provide very minimal moisture and repair. Coconut oil actually penetrates the scalp and hair, providing full moisture while repairing damaged hair. It also helps your hair from future damage from hair products and heat! Today, I am going to show you my favorite DIY hair mask that keeps my hair smooth, shiny and moisturized!
Ingredients: Coconut oil and an egg. THAT’S IT!
Step 1: Microwave your coconut oil until it is completely liquid.
Step 2: Crack an egg and add it right to the melted coconut oil. Wisk until mixed.
Step 3: Massage the entire mixture into your hair from scalp to ends.
Step 4: Use a comb to saturate the mask through your hair.
Step 5: Clip your hair up and leave in for 60 minutes!
For thin hair, use 2-3 tbs. Medium hair, 3-4 tbs. Thick hair, 4-5 tbs. (I used 4 tbs.)
Some of the benefits of this mask:
1. Adds shine to your hair
2. Moisturizes your scalp and hair
3. Helps to reduce/eliminate dandruff and dry scalp
4. Contains many vitamins that are beneficial to your hair
5. Stimulates hair growth
6. Helps with breakage and split ends
If you haven’t used some sort of coconut oil mask on your hair, I’m telling you, START DOING IT! Such a quick, easy and very inexpensive way to keep your hair healthy and beautiful. My hair was instantly softer after I did this mask!
