Cryotherapy for Recovery

Cryotherapy for Recovery

A First-Hand Experience

I keep seeing this cryotherapy “stuff” all over TV and social media, so I decided to give it a try! I am a big fan of recovery, and I don't think most people do enough for their recovery. For the most part everyone trains hard, but remember you don't grow or change when you are working out; it happens when you are recovering! So if it you don't recover properly you are sabotaging your efforts.

Tips and Benefits

I post a lot about taking Epsom salt baths when I am sore or tired, (which is a lot!). I even talked about them in the August 2015 edition of FitnessRx for Women. But I ALWAYS get asked if it really works. The best way I can answer that is that it ABSOLUTELY does work for me! But like most things in fitness, just because something works for someone else, it doesn't necessarily mean it's going to work for you. So, the only way to find out is to give it a try.

Part 4: The Bike

This is the last installment of my Leg-Shaping Cardio Series with Part 4: The Stationary Bike! I try to stay away from the bike, because unless I am really focused I have tendency to just cruise and not push it too hard. But here is another option for cardio, so you now you have four cardio workouts to choose from on different pieces of equipment to make your cardio schedule for the week.

You see photographers all over social media, but you’re just not really sure how to tell who’s who and what’s what! I decided to reach out to James Patrick, an award-winning and internationally published editorial and commercial photographer to get some answers.

Part 2: The StepMill

This week I will be talking about one of my favorite pieces of cardio equipment: the StepMill. Off the bat, nothing makes me sweat more than this bad boy— and for that alone I love it! I like to rotate this as one of my cardio workouts

Part 1: The Treadmill

I noticed while filming our series for “Mix It Up” how weak my cardiovascular endurance had gotten. I have mostly just been lifting heavy and doing steady-state cardio for a few years now, and I could feel it! I also noticed that I have done a good job of building plenty of muscle on my legs. So I thought it would be a great time to mix up my cardio and use it to “shape” my legs!
