When I was 3 years old, I was at the front of my aunt’s belly dance class, shaking my little booty with a classroom full of grown women. I sang and danced all day. That’s just what I loved to do. As I got older, I continued dancing— tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop, pole dance, you name it. It was the only somewhat girly thing I liked to do, now that I think of it LOL. Although I do not dance as much as I used to, the thought of it makes me smile.
Some days, very randomly while at home, I decide, “Hmmm I want to dance” LOL. I go to my “relaxation” room, where I meditate and do my 30-minute amazing stretching sessions. I turn up the music and break it down! LOL. I love it because it makes me feel free and rejuvenated.
I also turn to dance when I want to “up” my mood on a not so good day. It helps me because it’s something I love and so I can’t help but to smile, feel good and happy. That’s why sometimes I just have to dance. What are your passions? Or things you did as a kid that made you so happy back then? It’s fun to relive those feelings and experiences.
I say, this weekend or when you have some free time, go out and do something that made you really happy in your past. Maybe horseback riding? Playing a sport? Hey, grab the kids and teach them a cheer if you were a cheerleader. It’s about bringing the fun back. Until next week, girlies!
